빨간 머리 앤 (ANNE WITH AN E)

 

 

작년에 처음 본 캐나다 드라마 '빨간 머리 앤'

올해 시즌2까지 최애로 등극한 드라마입니다.

보면 볼수록 사랑스러운 앤!

아주 가끔 짜증날 때가 있는 캐릭터지만 저는 앤 덕분에 아이들을 더 잘 이해할 수 있게 됐어요.

어쩌면 제가 어릴 때 앤보다 더 심한 아이가 아니었을까? 하는 생각도 해요.

그래서인지 앤의 성장이 더 궁금해지네요.

 

드라마를 보면서 좋았던 대사를 정리하기로 했어요.

앤의 표현은 정말 아름답지요.

미국 넷플릭스에는 한국자막이 없어서 영어 자막뿐이지만 그래도 적어볼게요.

 

[시즌 1] 1. Your Will Shall Decide Your Destiny 

 

1화 줄거리 (출처: 넷플릭스)

A bungled message brings spirited orphan Anne Shirley to Green Gables, where unmarried siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert are waiting for a boy.

 

앤과 커스버트 남매의 첫 만남이에요. 남자아이를 입양하길 원했던 매튜와 마릴라는 앤을 보고 처음엔 당황해요.

기차역에서 그린 게이블로 오는 동안 매튜는 앤의 매력에 빠지게 되고요 :)

매튜는 입양하고 싶어 하지만 마릴라의 반대에 부딪히죠.

며칠을 그린게이블에서 묵는데요. 여러가지 일들이 생기고요.

그 후 앤을 돌려보내게 되요.

[Anne]  

Oh, Mr. Cuthbert!

What do they call this place?

 

[Matthew]

The Avenue.

 

I suppose it is kind of pretty.

 

[Anne]

Oh, "pretty" doesn't seem the right word to use, Nor "beautiful," either.

They don't go far enough.

 

It's... wonderful.

 

Wonderful.

 

The first thing I ever saw that couldn't be improved upon by the imagination.

Other people may call it "The Avenue," but I shall always call it "the White Way of Delight."

 

앤은 그린 게이블로 가는 동안 보이는 모든 아름다운 것들에 이름을 붙혀주고요.

또 과거 자기의 힘든 상황을 무덤덤하게 말하기도 해요.

"She was happy to be rid of me after her husband died."

힘들고 아팠던 기억은 남에게 말하지 않기도 하고요. 혼자 회상할 뿐이에요.

 

[Anne]

Don't you just love them?

The geese? I do.

The're a very romantical species of bird.

 

[Matthew]

Well, I wouldn't know about that.

 

[Anne]

Did you know they mate for life?

They choose each other out of all the other geese in the world, and they stay together until death do they part.

 

[Anne]

Well, it's just a much better story than mine.

 

[Marilla]

I didn't ask for any story, I asked for yours.

If you can't tell the truth, then I have no time for you.

 

[Anne]

If you let me tell you what I imagine about myself, you'll find it ever so much more interesting.

 

[Marilla]

Wishing something is different that it is will not make it so!

 

[Anne]

True words were never spoken.

 

My parents were Walter and Bertha Shirley.

They were newlyweds, and they were poor as church mice.

They died of a fever when I was three months old.

So I've been earning my keep for as long as I can remember, and...

I suppose I was lucky that I was placed out, instead of staying in the asylum.

 

I never understood it.

 

If children are such a burden, then why do people have so many of them?

 

Nevertheless, it's a shame I'll never have the opportunity.

 

[Marilla]

What do you mean?

 

[Anne]

To be one.

 

앤이 그린게이블에 오기 전까지의 과정을 말해주는 장면이에요.

그녀의 표정과 말투...까지 앤 역할을 맡은 에이미베스 맥널티는 정말 싱크로율 100%인 것 같아요.

 

[Anne]

The trouble is that the prospect seems humiliating and unfair.

 

[Matthew]

But you're smart enough...

to find the right words, I'm sure of it.

 

[Anne]

But why should the apology have to come from me

when it was Mrs. Lynde who caused the entire situation?

 

[Matthew]

Well, you know...

I like to think that...

that one fine day, it won't matter a whit to you what anybody says sideways.

 

[Anne]

You have a good imagination.

 

린드 부인과 앤이 트러블이 있고 난 후의 대화에요.

이후에 앤이 린드부인에게 사과하는 장면이 재미있어요.

여기에 적진 않지만 이 부분을 놓치지 않길 바라요. :)

 

또 다이앤을 처음 만나고, 브로치 사건까지 발생하는데요.

앤이 없는 그린게이블은 적막함만 흐를 뿐이네요.

 

 

제가 본 앤은 힘든 상황에서도 희망을 잃지 않아요.

로맨스를 많이 좋아하고요.

 

빨간 머리 앤은 소리와 영상미 모두 아름다우니 꼭 보길 추천해요!
