시즌3 정보를 찾아오시는 분들이 많은 것 같아, S01 E03 리뷰 전에 시즌3 정보를 올려요. 

6월 11일에 올라온 이 기사에 따르면 넷플렉스에 2019년 늦여름이나 초가을에 올라오지 않을까 예상하고 있어요. 

18년도처럼 6월 즈음에 올까 했는데 올해는 조금 더 기다려야겠네요:)

[시즌 1] 3. But What Is so Headstrong as youth?

3화 줄거리 (출처: 넷플릭스)

Anne starts school in Avonlea and discovers she has much to learn. Marilla steps out of her comfort zone to attend a meeting for progressive mothers.

 

3화는 앤이 학교를 가기로 한 첫날의 장면으로 시작돼요.

학교 가는 첫날의 떨림, 설렘을 잘 표현했어요.

 

[Anne]
I'm a few year behind... 
but that's no reason not to be optimistic.

자신의 빨간 머리와 주근깨가 제일 큰 걱정이라고도 해요.

그러면서

[Anne]
And I can't help but think the children would like me better if I was pretty,

[Marilla]
Fiddlesticks!
You're a vain one and no mistake.

[Anne]
If a rose wasn't beautiful, nobody would want to stop and smell it.
And, besides, how can I vain if I'm ugly?

이렇게 말하기도 해요.

 

앤은 좋은 인상을 심어주기 위해 학교 가는 길에 꽃을 따 모자에 장식도 해요.

학교에 도착하지만... 못된 아이들도 보이네요.

 

마릴라는 Progressive Mother's 회원들의 초대를 받아 미팅에 참여하게 돼요.

여성의 교육은 중요하고 우리의 생각은 선구적이라고 소개하는데요. (글쎄요?)

 

점심시간에 앤과 여자 아이들은 같이 밥을 먹으며 이야기를 나눠요.

이 주제는 아이들에게 흥미롭게 다가오는데요.

앤은 가장 최근에 있었던 가정의 은밀한 개인사(성)를 아이들에게 말해주고... 그녀들은 다소 충격을 받으며 급히 자리를 떠나요.

 

마릴라가 참석한 미팅에서는요.

[Mrs. Andrews]
"Feminism." What an incredible word.

.
My mother still believes it's scandalous for women to attend college.
It's a forbidden topic.
.
.
.
[회원 1]
(자신의 배를 바라보며) Oh, I hope you're a girl.
You'll be a modern woman in a modern society.

[Mrs. Bell]
Times have certainly changed.
.
.
.
[Mrs. Andrews]
I want her to have every advantage in life.
And Jane.

[Mrs. Bell]
You see? That's feminism.
Good for you, Miss Cuthbert, for choosing a girl.
It's very forward-thinking.

세상은 변하는 중이고, 소녀들을 위해 고등 교육을 받을 수 있게 힘써야 한다는, 페미니즘에 관한 이야기를 나눠요.

 

다시 앤이 다이앤과 하교하는 길에 이런 말을 해요.

[Anne]
Isn't it nice to think tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?
There must be a limit to the mistakes one person can make.
And when I get to the end of them, then I'll be through with them.

앤이 점심시간에 했던 'mouse'를 실수라고 하면서 말하는 장면이에요.

다이앤이 헤어지며 "No mice."라고 하죠.

 

집에 도착하고 마릴라가 학교는 어땠는지 물어봐요.

[Anne]
I think it went really, really well. Very well, I'm just so happy to be there.

앤이 대단하게 느껴지는 게 바로 이런 모습이에요.

걱정할까봐 그러는 걸까요?

힘든 하루였음에도 좋았다, 행복하다고 말하네요.

 

그리고 마릴라와 마릴라 친구 레이첼에게 둘은 학생 때부터 친구지 않냐고, 그 비결이 뭐냐고 물어보며 둘 사이를 한 발짝 더 가깝게 만들어 줘요.  

[Anne]
Today will be better.
I'm not gonna say anything weird, or... or do anything wrong.
(말 Belle에게) You're my friend, right Belle?
You'll always be my friend, won't you?

앤이 학교 가는 길에 이 못된 녀석(이름은 관심도 없어요!)이 앤을 괴롭히고 위협해요.

이때, 길버트가 처음 등장하고요!

도와줘요. 

인기쟁이 길버트:)

 

앤은 길버트를 경계하지만 나중에는 사과를 하는데, 또 이 살가운 장면을 여자 아이들이 봐요.

앤은 의도치 않게 여자 아이들과 또 사이가 벌어지네요.

 

Marilla는 가게에서 Mrs. Bell를 만나는데 Mrs. Bell이 더 이상 미팅에 참석하지 않아 주었으면 좋겠다고 말을 해요.

그리고 앤 홈스쿨링을 고려해보라고 하고요.

반갑게 인사하던 마릴라는 왜 이런 반응인지 영문도 모른 채 남겨집니다.

 

우리의 앤은 책을 아주 열정적으로 읽는데 그게 또 웃음거리가 돼요.

(제가 보기엔 길버트처럼 잘하기만 하는데요!)

 

앤은 여자 아이들에게 또 미움을 살까봐 길버트를 피하는데 길버트는 자꾸 다가와요.

그리고 결국 일이 생깁니다. 

 

집에서는요,

Mrs. Bell이 더 이상 미팅에 참석하지 않아도 된다고 한 이유를 매튜와 마릴라는 알게 돼요.

[Marilla]
Dear Lord!
That child will put me in the grave.
I cannot bear to think of her spewing such filth!

[Matthew]
It worries me to no end.

[Marilla]
What a disgrace!
Wait unil all of Avonlea hears about this, if they haven't already.

[Matthew]
I feel worried for Anne, is what.

[Marilla]
Matthew Cuthbert, I don't understand you at all.
That child is--

[Matthew]
A child.

Burns me up.

A girl of her tender age, she oughtn't to know such things.

매튜가 하는 말은 띵-하는 순간이었지요.

저에게도 그랬어요.

이런 어른이 있어서 얼마나 다행인가요.

마릴라도 그때 느끼는 게 있나 봐요. 집을 나서 Mrs. Andrews에게 찾아갑니다. 

마릴라는 미안하다는 말로 대화를 시작하는데요.

Mrs. Andrews는 앤이 했던 말은 절대 잊을 수 없을 거라며 독설을 퍼부어요.

[Mrs. Andrews]
How would you know?

[Marilla]
I beg your pardon?

[Mrs. Andrews]
Do you know anything about her?
[scoffs]
You didn't do Avonlea any favors bringing that... troppop into our midst.

[Marilla]
I beg your pardon?

[Mrs. Andrews]
I think you heard me plain.

[Marilla]
Well, hear this:
you can hold Anne responsible for what she said--

[Mrs. Andrews]
I can and most certainly do.

[Marilla]
But you can't hold against her what she's seen or been exposed to.
That's not her fault.
That child has endured more than any of us can know or imagine.
It's a shame progressive parenting doesn't seem to include compassion.
But perhaps you'll muster some up in church on Sunday...
and thank the good Lord that poor Anne has finally found safe haven.
I know I will.

마릴라가 한 말이 얼마나 속 시원하던지요.

말만 Progressive mother인가?

자신들은 현대적이고 깨어 있다고 생각하면서, 고아라고 배척하다니...

Mrs. Andrews가 느끼는 게 있는 듯한 표정을 짓긴 합니다.

 

수업 시간에 일이 터지고,

앤은 벌을 받다가 그냥 집으로 돌아가버려요.

집에 돌아와 마릴라에게 안겨 울어요.

[Marilla]
There, there, child.
I know.
I know just how you feel.
You've been judged harshly.

앤은 다시는 학교로 돌아가지 않겠다고 외치고요.

이렇게 3화가 끝나요.
